Chinese New Year 2012: What's About It?

Chinese New Year 2012 will be celebrated two days from now and I just realized that it's another year for me in SG.

This time of the year is when company workers, especially Chinese, are out for a vacation. Some company closes for the whole week and might have a half-day off on a Friday just before the week of the festival.

This is like Christmas for them.  They will have a reunion with their friends and families.  Others will have a vacation/tour somewhere else in the world.  A lot of preparations to be done especially on food, that's why a lot of Sale on items in every Mall in Singapore is going on this time.

Just last night, at the supermarket, crowds of Chinese are queuing at the counter.  Bringing carts of goods for their Chinese New Year 2012 preparation.

What will I do during Chinese New Year?
People are doing the what they call "Spring Cleaning".  This is the time to clean their houses. Get rid of old items and replaced it with a new one.

This is also my time to check what's on the garbage bin.  This is weird but I always enjoy it a lot.  I make it sure that there are items that I can still use and bring it up to our flat.

Believe me or not, last Chinese New Year 2011,  I have got a sofa, center table, soccer ball, guitar & kitchen table. These items are all good.  It's just that some people don't want to see it inside their house for the next lunar year.  So, they throw it away and I scavenge it my way....hehe

2011 Formula 1 Singtel Grand Prix Singapore

In the next 10 days, Formula 1 Grand Prix will be in Singapore.  This is exactly on September 23 to 25, 2011, which you shouldn't miss.

While I was near the circuit, I can hear the roaring engines and see the white smoke from their wheels.  Probably they were practicing that time.

It's quite amazing that when I was in the Philippines, I can only see them and hear their engines from the television. Now, I can hear them clearly.

If you want to know the schedule, you can check the link below.

You can buy the tickets on the designated and authorized ticketing offices found in this link,

Job Fair at Suntec (August 13-14, 2011)

I think I forgot to mention about the site where I found my job here in Singapore.  I was lucky to hold on to this site (jobcentral.com.sg) when I was looking for a job during those critical days.

Looking for a job is almost a 60% online and 40% on other media (based on what I observed) here in Singapore.  Walk-in interviews are quite few.

This time, I'm glad to know that there will be a Job Fair at Suntec Singapore this coming August 13 to 14.

The event "Career and Learning Fair" is sponsored by the JobsCentral.com.sg.

Schedule Details:
August 13, 2011 - Open for Singaporeans, PRs and Foreigners with valid work passes
August 14, 2011 - Open for the public (Sorry guys, there is an entrance fee of $10 for non-
Singaporeans, non-PRs and non-work pass holders)

Before you go to the event, you can register online to prevent yourself stack on queues.  Click this LINK to register.

How to Get To Suntec?
Alight at Cityhall MRT Station and follow the sign "To Suntec"...it's a 15min walk from the City Hall MRT Station.

Paya Leybar Air Base Open House 2011 Experience

My skin and face have sunburn, reddish that looks like the "lechon", roasted pig.   This is the effect if exposed to the blistering sun while checking out the Fighter jets, helicopters and the weapon systems of Singapore.

We arrived at the Singapore Air Base in Paya Leybar at around 11:00am.  The free shuttle bus keeps on arriving at a 3-minute interval, bringing passengers from Hougang and Eunos MRT Station.  Some boarded the bus 90 and others arrived with their cars.  Luckily, I did not bring mine because I was expecting difficulties to find a parking area.  It turned out that my decision was right.

Below are the photos taken during our trip.
Fighter Jet's butt, this is where the exhaust comes out.
Look at those huge bombers and carriers.
This will carry military personnel to combat.
The Apache, the gun moves in relation
with the pilots point of view.
The crew demonstrated how to arm an Apache helicopter
Look at that fighter, my baby!
Fighter jet displaying its bombs and bullets
This jet has long rockets.
You can ride and experience being a pilot.
But you need to queue.

I'll definitely be coming again next year 2012 Open House!

Singapore Fighter Planes and Weapon Systems

I am so excited to tell you this guys...really I'm serious! My hands are now shivering to write this important news.

Airplanes are my favorite vehicle or should I say vessel, since elementary days...I played it on family computer games, "Top Gun" , where I pay 25 cents per 5 minutes at our neighbor's house. I even queued up with my friends to play it in the "Game and Watch".  This is how young Ben grew up and paying for technology. hehe!

Anyway, when I arrived in Singapore, these airplanes can be seen flying around their skies.  They are the F16's and the AWACs.  I can only see them up above and witness how they fly with V formations.

Sentosa Flowers: Spring Wonderland 2011

I was inside the MRT when an ad of Sentosa caught my eye.  It was beautifully designed in pink and was attractive.  Then, I first read the Sentosa word and next was flowers.  Flowers are my all time favorite, but the irony here is I'm a 100% man.  I hope some guys will support me with this!

The reason for this is, I like the way it blossoms with colors since I was at young age.  So I took the picture of the ad to let you know about the event.

Anyway, enough of that old schools...If you happen to be at Singapore and the date is February 3 - 13, 2011.  You're lucky enough to see the beautiful flowers of Sentosa.  You can see their ads...Nicely made.
